Referee, Stroke & Turn Judge, Starter, Clerk of Course, Scorekeeper and Head Timer are all trained positions. Meets are not able to be run without officials who are essential to running a successful meet. Please consider attending on of the following sessions for one of the trained positions. There will be opportunities to shadow current officials if needed to make you feel more comfortable.

Meets are run by our wonderful parent volunteers. Some of these positions require official training, which can be done online and must be renewed each year. Please be prepared for the start of our season by reading through some of the positions available and participating in any necessary training. Training confirmation is sent to the RSL Board. 2026 Waiver Requests for USAS/VHSL Trained Positions
As in the past years, for certain positions that have undergone the trainings provided by USA Swimming or the Virginia High School Leagues, a waiver request can be submitted to the RSL by using the link to submit their forms and documentation:
